Aldi wins Grocer of the Year award
The store was named Grocer of the Year at the Grocer Gold Awards, beating Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
The honour comes as Aldi reports a record market growth of 31.5 per cent in one of its “most successful trading years to date”.
The award, presented this week, recognised “energy, innovation, marketing, new initiatives, execution and results”.
The judges added: “Its prices are cheap, but the range is now significantly broader. With clever and well-executed range enhancements, notably in fresh produce, wine and chilled ready meals, this winner should no longer be considered a discounter.”
