Analyst: Apple Will Sell 10 Million iPhones in the First 3 Weeks
How high are expectations for the iPhone 5? Pent-up demand for the product is such that Apple may sell 10 million new iPhones by the end of September, according to one analyst.
Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray floated the the 10 million figure in a recent note to clients. As Bloomberg points out, it took Samsung roughly 50 days to sell 10 million Galaxy S III smartphone units. Meanwhile, a comparable figure for the iPhone 4S, which was released last October, is not available. Apple sold 4 million iPhone 4S devices in the first weekend the product was available. For Apple's fiscal Q1, which ended Dec. 31, 2011, the company sold 37 million iPhones.
