FBI-Scotland Yard Phone Call Intercepted by Anonymous
The FBI is used to using secret wiretaps, but what happens when someone intercepts calls made by the FBI? Well, it happened. Anonymous intercepted a conference call between agents of the FBI and Scotland Yard (London Metropolitan Police headquarters). You can hear the conference call via the video player below.
The subject of the conference call: Anonymous, Antisec, and Lulzsec. Also on the call were irish, Dutch, Swedish, and Interpol officers. Anonymous pasted the dial-in and password information on Pastebin. A torrent of recording of the FBI-Scotland yard conference call was posted to The Pirate Bay, and it's also appearing on YouTube.
The call covered investigations into Anonymous, Lulzsec, Antisec, and other groups; dates of planned arrests; and potential evidence during the course of the 17-minute conversation.
The conference call also referred to the case against Ryan Cleary, who was arrested in June 2011 for his alleged role in LulzSec. We can also hear Scotland Yard officers say, "“We are here to help. We know we’ve cocked up in the past.”
The FBI, in confirming the authenticity of the recording (and embarrassed by the fact that its targets were on its conference call), vowed to apprehend those responsible.
