Officials at the American Petroleum Institute inform me that API President and CEO Jack Gerard and representatives of 15 labor unions will make a major labor-management announcement during a call-in news conference Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.

In an e-mail from API, I learned that the list of individuals who will be participating in the call along with Gerard includes the following:

  • J. Larry Nichols, API chairman and chairman and CEO of Devon Energy Corp.;
  • Mark H. Ayers, president of the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO; and
  • Doug J. McCarron, president of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America who also will be representing the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Stay tuned to this web site as I will be on that call tomorrow that is certain to generate some major headlines.
