Apple iPhone 4 Press Conference Highlights: No Recall, Free Cases, Working On A Solution, Antenna Song Video

Speaking at a Apple iphone 4 press conference, a defiant and at time contrite, Apple CEO Steve jobs admitted that Apple and the iPhone 4 "are not perfect" but emphasized the antenna problem the iPhone 4 is having is really no different than any other smart phone.

Mr Jobs then ran through the intensive testing process that Apple devices are subject to and said that iPhones are tested in $100m state-of-the-art chambers

'We knew that you could see bars drop on the phone when you hold it in a certain way, it's a fact, phones aren't perfect. But people are reporting better reception with this antenna than they've ever seen before.'

Having said that Apple has decided to provide free cases for iPhone 4 to prevent the antenna from dropping its signal.

In response the company's giving free cases to iPhone 4 buyers through Sept. 30 and refunds to people who bought the $30 "Bumper" cases from Apple already. The company can't make enough Bumpers for everyone right away so Apple will offer alternate cases. Buyers can apply for the cases and refunds on Apple's Web site next week.

Apple's also waiving restocking fees and providing full refunds within 30 days for people who want to return their phones.

Song A Day #561: The iPhone Antenna Song

Prior to Steve Jobs taking the stage Apple set the tone by playing an iPhone 4 Antenna Song Video.  The video is an attempt by one Apple Fanboy to defend the the iphone 4 and all things Apple.
The Apple Press Conference is likely one tactic to help restore the confidence of the markets in Apple stock. Since the launch of the iPhone 4 Apple has lost about $16 billion in market value.
