Apple Announcment: New iphone OS 4.0, Multitasking and Folders
Apple iphone 4.0 OS Announcement: Folder, Multitasking - Finally
The Apple announcement in Cupertino, CA, on April 8th was all about the new operating system for the iphone, the OS 4.0.
Since, the release of the iphone one of the big flaws of the device was the inability to multi-task. No more says Steve Jobs CEO of Apple as he unveiled the iphone OS 4.0. Jobs said the reason why Apple delayed multitasking is they wanted to get right, rather than roll out a buggy feature.
“It’s really easy to implement multitasking in a way that drains battery life. If you don’t do it just right your phone’s going to feel sluggish and your battery life is going to go way down. We’ve figured out how to implement multitasking of third-party apps and avoid those things.”
To date, Apple said it has sold 50 million iphone and 35 million ipad touch devices, and of course there are thousands of iphone applications that have been dowloaded to those iphones. So much so that Apple introduced a folders feature.
User's will be able to drag applications -- such as games -- into 'folders.' They can then pop open those folders to access the applications inside. They can even drag these folders onto their gizmo's dock, so they can access them quickly.
In addition, the Apple iphone OS 4.0 will feature 5x digital zoom and a tap to to focus for video, a feature that had already existed for photos.
It has been a good week for Apple as its new e-reader, computer hybrid, the ipad has doen exceptionally well in its first week of sales. moving 450,000 units
