Apple Buys iPad Trademark From Fujitsu
Apple To Fully Own iPad Trademark
Computer giant Apple Inc. has bought off the iPad trademark from Japanese tech company Fujitsu. Apple unveiled its new iPad brand on January 27, but it was later revealed that Fujitsu has filed to trademark the term iPad in 2003 for a hand-held device used by sale associates. Apple being one of the most recognizable brands with significant customer loyalty has decided to buy off the trademark on March 17.
Apple acquired trademark with serial No. 76497338, but not without a battle. Apple started off opposition proceedings that challenged Fujitsu's rights to iPad name, but was not successful. The compensation that Apple had to pay to Fujitsu is not being disclosed.
The trademark document can be seen on the website of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
First iPads go on sale in the U.S. on April 3, 2010. Pre-orders have been collected since March 12.

Fijitsu is a winner because they got several millions out of a name that they weren't really using and that four months ago seemed to be pointless to have. And Apple is a winner because they got the exact name they want for a product that, if well managed, will given them billions in revenue. Advanced Cleanse
