Nothing like an Apple in the sun. Will the company lead the way in devices that actually will be free of traditional power?

Owners of Apple devices such as iPods and iPhones may soon be able to chargethem up by leaving them out in the sun.

Apple has filed a patent for a technology which would enable a layer of solarcells to be inserted under a touch-sensitive screen of the sort used in theiPhone.

I'd take a solar-powered iPhone over another battery-powered gadget any day. Here's hoping.
