Apple settle out of court over Faulty Computer
My brother bought a MACbook Pro computer but after just 20 months the 'motherboard' (apparently, this is really 'major') broke.
He complained to Apple who refused to fit or provide a new one. It would have cost over £500 to repair.
So he got some legal advice using an online solicitor, who said that he was well within his rights, the item was clearly faulty and he only had it a short time. Another solicitor, a High Street one, 'said it was complicated' and quoted him £350 which he refused to take up. "This was just a straight forward consumer case", the online solicitor said.
So he decided to take Apple to the Small Claims Court and paid just £65.
On doing so, Apple decided to settle out of court, give him a brand new MACbook Pro, and have even added three years warranty.
It just goes to show that Big Guys do back down sometimes.
