Apple has released the Magic Mouse, as well as new Macbooks, new iMacs, and new Mac Minis. The Magic Mouse will ship with all desktop machines, and features a multitouch surface similar to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The new Macbook retains its white plastic case, but gets beefed up under the hood with 2.26Ghz dual-core porocessor, 2GB RAM, and 250GB hard drive. The multi-touch trackpad adds to the package, cannibalizing the market for the more-expensive MacBook Pro. However, the new Macbook does not have Firewore or SD card slots.

The new iMac starts at a 3.06Ghz dual-core with 21.5" screen, and featurees a higher-end 27" quad-core 2.66Ghz model. The new iMac loses the Firewire 400 port, keeping only the Firewire 800 port for high-speed connectivity to a digital video camera or external hard-drive. Also present are four USB2 slods and an SD card slot.

The new Mac Mini has an 802.11n-compatible wireless card, Firewire 800 port and five USB slots. The video connection is via mini-DVI port, as opposed to the MiniDisplay port used by the laptops. Unlike the laptops, the Mac Mini actually comes with a display adapter (*gasp*), although you still must dismantle the machine if you want to swap out the RAM. Be careful: that fan connector is really small and fragile.

There's also a $20 aluminum-skinned Apple Remote which you'll never use.

The Apple Store is currently down, which means that new products are on the way. the notoriously tight-lipped tech company is rumored to be releasing a new line of Macbooks. Or is it redesigned iMacs? or new Mac Minis? or a multitouch external trackpad? Depends on which rumor you follow. According to Macrumors, the item MC207LL/A refers to a 2.26GB Macbook with a 250GB hard drive and 2GB RAM, which would cannibalize the Macbook Pro line. I'm sure we're all waiting with bated breath, especially anyone who bought a Mac yesterday, hoping that their model isn't about to be suddenly upgraded.
