The deal will come this week as the April 22nd earning call looms for Yahoo! The deal with Microsoft will be done before that call. But then the fun begins; the integration of these two companies will set off a series of other deals in the digital media space that will forever change the face of media. Look for competitors to take advantage of the tedious integration process between Yahoo! and Microsoft as a widnow of opportunity to gain ground on these two giants.

Yahoo Board Agrees to Meet With Microsoft, Time Warner

By Joseph Weisenthal - Sat 12 Apr 2008 11:48 AM PST

What did Yahoo’s (NSDQ: YHOO) board do when it met on Friday? Apparently, it agreed to hold more meetings with its prospective suitors. NYT reports that Yahoo will hold further meetings with both AOL (NYSE: TWX) and Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), as it figures out a path to go down. Meetings with both companies are scheduled for the coming week. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s proposed partnership with News Corp (NYSE: NWS). is still looking looking an outlier possibility, but of course the events of just this past week busted a lot of folks’ brackets, so to speak.

This really brings home the power these individuals (corporations) have in our lives. Think of all the people who practice their activism via Yahoo groups! They have no idea how the future will unfold within their cyber networks.

And, re. Microsoft's proposed partnership with News Corp, it is interesting that News Corp owns MySpace. ... and Google owns the advertising rights, but have not made a profit, in fact they have anenormous fortune.

But, at least these are all run on 'open source programs' and none of them are founded by 'former' CIA operatives, unlike 'closed source' Facebook.

Makes you think ... and that can't be bad :)
