ASEAN Window system to be on a test run next year
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plans to put its single window system to the test next year in order to accelerate customs clearance and enhance trade competitiveness in the region, according to world news reports.
The ASEAN Single Window (ASW) will first be applied in six Southeast Asian nations namely Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand will consider joining the system after the trial period, said Head of Indonesia’s ASW preparatory committee Edy Putra Irawady.
Under the ASW system, procedures will become centralised, so that the flow of goods in the region is straight forward, transparent and accountable.
