There is a principle in journalism that the reporting process can often tell on the behaviour of those who are being reported upon. This principle became clear in a courtroom drama in Queens County.

The house of septuagenarian Lilla Roberts, a retiree in Jamaica was being foreclosed upon in 2009 summer by BofA or Bank of America. She did not know that the action had been taken over by Fannie Mae – who was attempting to evict her. The matter had been reported in the New York Times. Roberts with the help of lawyer Elizabeth Lynch filed a legal suit trying to halt the eviction and reverse the foreclosure.
