Beijing Olympics : Adidas and Reebok copy ads
On my walk to work in Xuhiu district of Shanghai and with just 10 days to run to the opening of the Olympics a remarkable display of Corporate Power dominates the skyline at the metropolitan Grand Gateway intersection.
The 23 story high Adidas Olympic advert featuring Chinese Olympians standing on the shoulders of the Chinese People is an inspiring image, both in it's breathtaking scale (23 stories high) and in it's capture of the spirit of the moment.
However, this ad is a newcomer to the scene - for several months now, Reebok has been displaying its smaller but no less powerful image of Chinese Olympians standing on the shoulders of the Chinese People...
Is this an example of collaboration; of glorious happy coincidence : calling out the single great spirit of collective striving that can be sensed in all parts of China? is it an example of sinister copying of ideas? or does it simply represent a sad lack of imagination by 2 corporate Goliaths?

This new adidas ad is not a copy from Reebok.
But i can't say for sure the Reebok's ad (with Yao Ming) that followed after the first release of adidas olympic ads is a mere coincidence. :)
