The role of radio in Africa is one that cannot be emphasized enough. One finds that irrespective of the rapid advancement in technology that has resulted in the emergence of the internet, cell-phones and television, radio remains the most pervasive medium of mass-communication due to its affordability and accessibility, even in the most remote areas.
Among the positive aspects of the radio industry in Kenya is the informative nature of programmes. Through the industry, information concerning economic, political and social issues is conveyed to the public via bulletins and in-depth news coverage, in this regard one can say radio has been greatly instrumental in directly addressing crucial issues affecting the “mwananchi” (citizen). For example Kiss 100 FM, through their highly interactive breakfast shows were able to monitor political views of Kenyans during the constitutional reform period.

Radio has also demonstrated an increased degree of creativity in engaging with its audience, from the invitation of guest speakers to discuss ways of tackling fundamental concerns such as HIV/AIDS, the role of the police etc, to producing programmes that address the specific needs of the youth, the influence of radio is evident.

Who you are to advice me when I stay for my African friends. Do you think in Africa they spend another 2 Dollars to discuss with you online. Better you see the problems. Your behavior is unacceptable towards people from the emerging world making such an effort.  You turning around of words gets boring and expresses missing respect or missing world experience, or is it just to cold. In case suppress the message like you do always, instead of looking for new writers to enable to start. This would be a marketing campaign for a so called online world journal. When I am in Africa, I could not use this tool, Internet goes up and down. Or may be my comment is not necessary and this is written from Canada. I speak for others too, the software is just to overloaded for normal computers, you may have other equipment than the Rest of the world. Well anyway Microsoft is not far away Seattle.

amyjudd I was writing this to Paschen, how can you expect someone from Cameroon probably writing with a 25k jumping internet connection and windows internet explorer on an old computer to use Highlight?  So we exclude Africa to write. Better to give a grace period of 3 times : quote TEXT source: XX news. The Article is pretty important. Americans can not imagine what it means to have a FM Radio in Africa. Families work for the batteries, all local information comes over FM, health, news, war agriculture prices.

By the way my XP computer on Windows NoPublic behaves like a lame duck, the highlight tool is still not working, if I correct the text, the picture widget dissapears. A test in the Cybercafe on 2 other computers same result. 90 % of the world is using XP Windows Internet Explorer. I have Firefox speedy on NP, others not. P.S. Same true for Skype, if over 10 million online does not work with Africa.

You don't need to speak for another member - they are perfectly capable of doing that themselves.

I don't need to explain myself to you, however this member does need to explain if they can't use highlight to me.
