There is an amazing program that needs to brought into the classrooms of all school aged children. The program was thought of and brought to life by Shree Nayar at the Computer Vision Laboratory of Columbia University www1.cs.columbia.edu/CAVE/ which assisted to created a sub department and website dedicated to his idea and project www.bigshotcamera.org/index.html What exactly this project is designed to do is create an interest in engineering, science, photography and general team working environments.  Why this pilot project has yet to be picked up by a major camera manufacturer is a mystery.  This is definitely a resourceful teaching tool that should be in available to the learning youngsters of tomorrow. o far the program has been field tested in 4 locations with great success, these locations are New York, USA, Bengaluru, India, Vung Tau, Vietnam and Toyko, Japan.   Photos taken from the children of each of those locations can be viewed in a slideshow as well. The camera itself is simply great with 3 camera modes standard, panoramic, and stereoscopic used in creating 3-D images are all an interesting aspect.  Even more appealing is this multi-purpose multi-colored camera is also completely assembled by the students piece by piece allowing room for discussions, learning lessons and development in hi-tech device understanding amongst children.  Overall this project is a superb innovation that will one day be as common as chalk boards in school class rooms.
