Yahoo Search Transitions to Bing
Yahoo is switching its English-language search technology to Bing, incorporating Microsoft's technology for crawling the web and ranking search results. Yahoo's own technology will handle the presentation of those results. Watch for the little "powered by Big" logo if you're using Yahoo Search in the US or Canada, at least at first.
Devs and SEOs, you'll be dealing with Yahoo Site Explorer when reporting changes or problems, until the changeover is complete. At that point, Microsoft Bing Webmaster Central will be the go-to place, and it will get more fully integrated into Yahoo.
Bad news, though, if you were a fan of Search Monkey: the monkey is being put down.
Later this week, we will begin transitioning the back-end technology for Yahoo! Search in the U.S. and Canada (English) over to the Microsoft platform, and will post an update when the organic search transition is complete for both Web and mobile searches. Keep an eye out for the “Powered by Bing” indicator at the bottom of our search results page, which will indicate that you are viewing listings from Microsoft.
