Google Killing Blogger and Picasa in Google+ Rebranding

Blogger and Picasa are going to be gone as brands within six weeks. This is kind of a big deal, since Blogger is one of the top ten most-visited sites in the world, and countless users (well, Google has a statistic on it) use Picasa to manage their photos. Blogger images are hosted via Picasa.

This doesn't mean that your Blogger splog blog is going to get deleted, or that your Picasa galleries are going to be nuked. Instead, you will be force-fed the Google+ Kool-Aid. Blogger will become "Google Blogs", and Picasa will become "Google Photos".

Okay, not the most imaginative of names, but at least it's not a jumble of vowels or (adjective denoting speed)+(cute animal). No word yet on what will happen with the Picasa editing software.

YouTube will be keeping its own distinct branding, but other Google-owned entities may get extreme facelifts.
