3,900 Blue Bird School Buses Recalled: Fire Risk

Blue Bird Body Co. is recalling 3,900 school buses due to a fire hazard. 2004-2006 model year Vision school buses have a manufacturing defect in which the starter cable can make contact with the power steering hose, which could cause a short, in turn causing an engine fire.

Affected school buses will be inspected and, if there is not enough clearance between the starter cable and the power steering hose, they will be separated by a clamp.

Blue Bird has had five school bus recalls over the past year, due to fire hazards, faulty warning lights, and emergency window problems.
