BMW recalling 200,000 vehicles
BMW AG is recalling 200,000 vehicles over concerns that the front passenger air bag may not deploy in a crash.
The German automaker says the recall involves the 2006 3 Series, the 2004-2006 5 Series, and the 2004-2006 X3 compact sport utility vehicle.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a posting on its Web site Wednesday that small cracks could develop in a seat detection mat and lead to the front passenger air bags to be deactivated.
It would also turn on the passenger air bag "on-off" light. NHTSA (NIT'sa) says the head protection system would not be affected.
The company said last month there had been no injuries or accidents

JeffHuang, I like this story. It's good stuff. OOOHHH that can't be good, but then BMW always over engineer their cars, such as something goes wonky on the electronics inside the dashboard, they replace the whole dashboard, pretty pricey. recalls I gather

BMWs are very safe in general otherwise. The BMWs I've owned and driven over the years all are very solid overall. Glad I could help Jeff..

The only thing I can assure you when visiting the BMW factory and museum in Munich-Germany, is that you gonna be a bimmer lover. BMW means quality, power, safety and satisfaction.
Good story, jeff, and great website.

My 2007 BMW X3 - wrong descicion but i'll live with it for a while.
I traded my BMW330i & Toyota Wish for this X3. Wanted to drive a BMW but with having a driver i hardly had time to drive my 330i and was sitting in the Wish 5 days per week. So i thought: get a nice X3 to combine the BMW fun with the daily commute; WRONG: Driving an X3 is far less fun as driving a 330i and sitting in the back of the car is a disaster.

I'm a die-hard BMW fan and this X3 3.0 is my fifth BMW. I'd driven 525iA, 325, 730i and 530i and I chose X3 is because its seat height is good for driver who has lower lumbar problem (if you have difficulty or feel pain getting up from the seat of a 530, ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE)
