Boners BBQ: Atlanta Restaurant Flames Stephanie Stuck for Tip-Stiffing, Negative Yelping

Stephanie Stuck is a worst-case scenario customer for Boners BBQ, an Atlanta restaurant: shows up with an online group discount, doesn't leave a tip, and then leaves a negative review on Yelp.

Stephanie Stuck left a Yelp review for Boners BBQ that was fairly negative, though we have seen much worse. (Note: Stephanie Stuck said that she indeed left a tip: is it possible that the staff didn't process the Scoutmob discount correctly?)

However, Boners BBQ owner Andrew Capron took to Facebook to insult Stephanie Stuck: a post to Boners BBQ's Facebook page, which also went out on Twitter, read, "NOT WANTED! (Stephanie S.) left waitress a 0.00 tip on a $40 tab after she received a Scoutmob discount. If you see this women [sic] in your restaurant tell her to go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself! Yelp that, bitch!"

The fallout was as immediate as it was predictable. Capron deleted the post and the tweet, but the damage was done. Not only do countless people think that he's a jerk, but Stuck's negative review of Boner's BBQ has reached far more widely than it would have otherwise.

Despite the fact that "go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself" is an epic insult, it's completely inappropriate for a business owner to talk to a customer like that in a public forum, period. Also, including a photo of Stephanie Stuck in the Facebook dis was a pretty creepy move.

Andrew Capron went into CYA mode and issued several apologies, but come on. It's 2012. Everybody knows about group-discount coupons. Everybody knows about Yelp. More importantly, everybody knows what happens when a business owner flames a customer.

It's hard enough to keep a restaurant afloat in this economy as it is: shooting yourself in the foot obviously doesn't help. Mea culpas aside, what, exactly, did Andrew Capron expect to happen after he clicked Share?

Meanwhile, negative reviews continue to mount, coming from users who have never even eaten at Boners BBQ; this is another thing we should all know by now: Yelp reviews don't always have anything to do with the actual food or service.

That's why I dislike public forms for this type of thing leave it to the people who get paid for this type of thing. If she wanted to tell her friends and family thats ok but, we shouldn't be knocking each other around on the air waves and if she can then they should be fair game to respond ....!
