Weather and road conditions in some parts of the U.S., such as South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska, are resulting in less people hitting the stories this Boxing Day. Retailers are offering extended Boxing Day hours as the result of bad weather. This year, more and more retailers are also spilling their after Christmas sales online and let their customers take advantage of free shipping, turning this year's Boxing Day into Cyber Boxing Day. The fact that the Boxing Day fell on Saturday this year is another important factor for retailers that might contribute to greater sales, as people will have more time to browse actual or virtual stores. Boxing Day is not an official holiday in the United States. Only the U.K., Hong Kong, Germany and Switzerland observe Boxing Day as a public holiday.
