Breaking News : The U.S. has always been a socialist country
For all those of you on the 24-hour news networks that are ranting about Obama's stimulus policies being tantamount to socialism, I have some news for you. America has always been a socialist country. U.S. is amongst a handful of countries in the world that has redistributive social programs such as unemployment benefit, social security and medicare. The others being Western European countries such as the ones listed here. The average weekly unemployment benefit in the U.S. is $290 a week. That's $1160 a month. This is more than adequate to cover the basic needs of most people. Rent + utilities + groceries in most places in the U.S. amounts to no more than $800 per month for a single person. Ofcourse, if you have dependents, you're screwed. So what are Americans complaining about? They get to stay at home and play XBOX and drink beer and collect an unemployment cheque every week. Thanks to socialism, the only problem that Americans have right now, is that they don't have any new game titles for XBOX this quarter. How many of you in here want to pay the government for new XBOX titles, please raise your hand. President Obama - are you listening?
