British Fashion Awards Nominees Announced

The annual British Fashion Awards, also dubbed the "British fashion Oscars," honours key players in the British fashion industry by recognizing creative contributions and roles with an awards gala on November 25th.

The nominations have just been announced, and here are some of the highlights:

Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson and Jourdan Dunn will fight it out for Model of the Year.

Giles Deacon, Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson are all contenders for the 'Red Carpet' Trophy. Sir Paul Smith has been nominated in two categories: Firstly, for the Designer Brand award, along with Jimmy Choo and Agent Provocateur; and, secondly, for Menswear Designer of the Year, in company with Burberry's Christopher Bailey and Richard James. The three each hoping to win the Acccessory Designer of the Year title are the shoemakers Jonathan Kelsey and Rupert Sanderson and the jeweller, Lara Bohinc.

Swarovski is sponsoring two awards this year. The nominations for its Emerging Talent Award in ready-to-wear are Danielle Scutt, Louise Goldin and Felder Felder, while shoe designers Nicholas Kirkwood and Charlotte Olympia and Anna Vince, who specialises in belts, are up against one another for Swarovski's Emerging Talent in the Accessories category.

The make-up supremo, Pat McGrath, Terry Jones, editor-in-chief and creative director of i-D magazine, and the photographer, Tim Walker, have all been nominated for the Isabella Blow Award for fashion creator.


Designer of the year is the most anticipated award, which Stella McCartney received last year, while the award for Outsanding Achievement will be released prior to the event on November 11th.
