Business Analysis: An Overview
Today, business analysis as a career is very much in demand. The professionals who are into Business Analysis profession are known as Business Analyst. There are various institutes that are providing Business analysis courses and training. ISEB is stated as Information Systems Education Board. The name of ISEB has been changed to BCS. BCS stands for British Computing Society. The ISEB body conducted ISEB Business Analysis Foundation Program. Initially ISEB covered ten major areas in the field of Information Technology. They are Software Testing, IS Consultancy, Business Analysis, IT Service Management, Data Centre Management, Software Asset Management, Project Management and Support, IT Governance and Information Security. Ever since 2012, ISEB has been converted to BCS and these major areas come under BCS. The training of a business analyst is very rigorous and extensive. Since, the industry needs diligent and hard working professionals for the business environment, the training also needs to be very dynamic and exhaustive. The training is imparted in the form of a class room training and online training. It is advisable to go in for class room training as it helps in getting a better understanding. The class room training is also interactive as it included group discussions, case studies, etc… The BCS has certified specific institutions in 50 countries that are eligible to conduct the Business Analyst classes and training. It is very essential to check with the listed institutes in order to save one from being duped. BCS has also mentioned a disclaimer that it would not be responsible if a candidate enrolls from a non-listed institute.
The course is designed differently for three different levels. The first level is ISEB Foundation level, the second level is ISEB Practitioner Level and the third level is ISEB Higher Level. The foundation level deals at a basic level. It covers the introduction part and the basic understanding required. The practitioner level deals with application of the concepts practically. The higher level deals with the areas looked after by managers and specialists. It is the senior level. There are accredited training and examination providers who are conducting the whole exam and training. The examination can be conducted either in written or computer based form.
