Good news for last minute filers, due to huge traffic volume to the Canada Revenue Agency website, you've got until midnight on Tuesday, May 6th to get your taxes filed online, that is, assuming you don't owe money to the government.

If you do, you need to get your payment and filing in by tonight.

Due to a significant volume of hits to the web site, some people are currently experiencing intermittent technical difficulties accessing certain web applications.

If you are experiencing difficulties filing your tax return online, please try again. Anyone filing their tax return online has until midnight (local time) on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, to transmit it. Those tax returns will be considered as filed on time.

Every year, the CRA allows a grace period for taxpayers who may experience delays in submitting their return online. This date is not an extension.

Taxpayers owing money are still expected to make their payment by April 30th to avoid any penalties. Individuals can make their payments electronically through their financial institution's Internet or telephone banking services.
