Hewlett Packard had earlier this month mentioned that they were ending the TouchPad and (likely) the WebOS platform without a company to support it. On August 19th the price of the TouchPad was dropped to $100 on the 16GB model. This caused a rush on the product and sell outs.

The response was far greater than expected and moved previously sluggish hardware. So HP has decided to do one final run of the TouchPad to meet demand as their 'last hurrah'. The move is a little odd but has helped to build some good will with consumers which had been lost from the original announcement.

The new shipment should be coming in a couple of weeks. On top of this the company has said that they will continue to update the device with updates despite no retail support after the next a and final run.
