CES 2009 Vegas 61

Las Vegas, NV: Come on...where else could an expo with all these bells and whistles really be accepted as normal?  Last year CES threatened to not show up in 2009 because they felt the hotels in their bulk booking policy were asking too much guarantee in food and drink costs.  So, even Vegas honchos will negotiate to get business in the current economy.  Wisely, both parties agreed and so CES 2009 became reality in Glitter City! There were 300 less vendor spaces a few months back.  But it did not take long to fill those slots with newbies who wanted to take a shot at the big time in Vegas.  The walkways were still full and there were tens of thousands all over the city trying to grab as much of the show as possible in three days.  Of course, there were new gadgets and old standbys on display this year as usual.  In the next few days I hope to post three very unique products complete with video interviews.  Also, for those who could not find enough social teasing and eye candy in the city this year, the Adult Expo went on as scheduled.  Believe it or not, although the porn industry says they are hurting and need a bailout also, there was no shortage of guys willing to shell out lots of bucks to have their pictures taken with their favorite skin flick stars.  You can look for Congress to be taking a closer look at the financial problems of this industry in the future.  From past cases concerning our Congressmen, I am sure it will be a "hands on" investigation. So if you missed CES 2009, you can still spend your upcoming stimulus check on all the products on display in Vegas when they arrive at your local electronics store.  However, there will be no glitz and glamour of Vegas excitement to go with your new purchases.  Go ahead and plan that trip out to Vegas next January.  As long as the hotels and the vendors can get it together, CES 2010 will be the place to be for all of us who have an electronic addiction. See you in Vegas!
