The Chicago Tribune has layed off ten newsroom employees and will be closing two overseas bureaus.

The Tribune is currently operating under bankruptcy protection, with around $13 million in debt.

The Chicago Tribune fired at least 10 newsroom employee Thursday, including a Pulitzer Prize winner and the correspondents in the Middle East and Rome.

The Pulitzer Prize winner in question is Don Terry. The Jerusalem and Rome bureaus will be closed.
The layoffs, a response to reductions in advertising and circulation revenue, come a week after the paper's publisher Tony Hunter, warned of "rightsizing activities" at Chicago Tribune Media Group, which includes the paper and its RedEye edition, plus Chicago magazine.
