Coke Zero Facial Profiler: The Search For Look-Alikes Takes Off

Coke Zero has partnered with social network Facebook to come up with their Facial profiler application that lets people search for their look-alikes and connect with them via Facebook. Coke is publicizing their new facial profiler under the premise that "if Coke Zero has real Coke's taste, is it possible that someone out there has your face" - part of Coke's now years-long campaign to prove that Coke Zero and real Coke taste the same.

The new Facial Profiler Facebook app is basically intended to find another you. The demo on Coke Zero website claims, "you never know if you are going to match a person to someone next door or in another country." I would say some of the demo matches are strong, others not so much. But, the facial Profiler is being branded by Coke as one-of-a-kind app that matches people based on appearance and than lets them connect via Facebook. Users are prompted to login and see if someone out there has their face....so, ready to try this? All you have to do is go to the Facial Profiler Facebook app page, download the application and upload your photo into the database. Coke Zero claims their Facebook face database has reached capacity and is now returning matches. It says the match accuracy will increase as the face database grows. Coke claims its software is akin to the kind that "governments and international security agencies use."

Let's just hope Coke's facial profiler does not stop short of recognizing black people the way HP "racist webcam" did.

So, is this "worldwide social experiment" sponsored by Coke straight out of a science fiction movie, or just a fun tool to satisfy every person's eternal desire to know if they have a look-alike out there somewhere?

Even though my match looked 10 years younger than myself, there was a strong resemblance in our features so I have to say I am a fan of this Facial Profiler app that Coke Zero came out with.  The application demo video that you reference  above- www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ow2cxbTEFI  - is what really enticed me to try the Facial Profiler app. Definitely intrigued me with the whole worldwide social experiment concept. Clever .
