Computer Association Nepal's IT Conference Started Today

Kathmandu, January 16, 2010: The 10th Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Information Technology (IT) Conference started here from Nepal Tourism board Auditorium hall with the theme of  “Next IT Economy : A Future Talk”  among distinguished IT professionals. The conference is schedule for two days starting from January 16 to17 where topics  like Open Source, Role of ICT in Climate Change, Information Security and Legal Issues, Future of e-Governance, e-Health,  Imagination of ICT Tools,  Connectivity and Communication,  E-Business and its growth, and Infrastructure Management are focused. The conference will highlight different relevant issues of the growing Information Communication Technology (ICT)   where 30 presentations will be discussed on the above mentioned tracks.

The conference was inaugurated by Manohar Bhattrai , Vice Chairman of the High Level Commission for Information Technology (HLICIT).

Speaking at the program, Manohar Bhattrai, said, “ICT as a whole is a very specific industry which is directly related to economy, today when the scope of e-business is growing the definition, role and scope of internet is also changing adapting the Global trends where we all need to be prepared and focused. We all should do effective efforts from our sides to make it better where everybody should play their part for its development.”

According to Dr. Ram Hari Aryal, Secretary at Ministry of Information and Communication Center, “Today is the world of ICT, where technology and internet rules everything, though we lack infrastructure, still the ongoing development progress is really appreciable. We highly appreciate CAN’s work and it work modalities where it has shown its presence in 51 districts out of 75 which is really appreciable. For the proper development of the ICT sector we need a collaborated effort from all sides where all the stake holders should play their part.”

“Reach the unreachable is our basic motto where we want to reach the rural village and take technology and internet within the reach of every Nepali,” added Aryal.

CAN InfoTech is the largest annual ICT fair organized by the CAN, this years it is schedule from Jan. 13-18 Kathmandu. The conference was supported by Ministry of Information and Technology, Nepal Tourism Board, ISOC Nepal, Banker Association of Nepal, High Level Commission for Information Technology, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Institution of Information Technology, Office of Comptroller of Certification  etc.
