Local real estate bloggers are asking questions about why comments mysteriously disappeared from an article about the Vancouver scene.

This weekend the Vancouver Sun ran a story about the top 15 real estate myths and realities which generated a lot of reader feedback.  As of last night their website had many comments, the majority of which disagreed with some of the points in that article or the way that it was presented.

Today the comment section looks different.  This morning all but two comments had disappeared, with many readers here claiming to have re-submitted comments that have not showed up.  I’ve personally submitted a comment that has not yet appeared on their site.  Since this morning one additional comment has been posted (congratulations ‘crabman!’).

I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that this is a temporary technical problem rather than a concerted effort to censor public feedback and appease real estate advertisers.  If they are experiencing technical difficulties I’m sure they would want to keep the conversation going, so please feel free to post your comments here while we wait for them to solve the problem and re-post reader comments on their website.

mtippett, I like this story. It's good stuff. Michael, Michael, Michael, of course it is censorship, scam, hype, advertisements gone awry when consumers say what we all know, Real Estate Fear mongering is so prevelant here than any place I have lived in North America, Who ever heard of "Spa Inspired Whistler Townhouses" WTF is that? Is the a Bidet and crapper located in the centre of the kitchen or something?  As well as WTF is a Pre registered veiwing and By Qualified buyers for appointment only? Whatta load of Steaming Donkey Dinks, with even tinier bottom feeder weenies of real estate. Realtors are becoming as beloved as Lawyers and Politicians. Bottom Feeders ALL.  Oh yeah, did you hear about the average family income?  About 50K, now do the math with a half million dollar condo under 900 square feet and unheard of 40 year mortgages to pay it off. And we wonder why homes have inlaw suites, or in my experience GROW OP Suites.  Gotta pay the mortgage somehow. Pretty much price everyone out of the market. Yep only in Vangroovy, where it seems everyone for themselves in the Wild, Wild Lawless West (Left) coast.

Anyone who reads the Sun regularly should already know to take their real estate advice with a grain of salt.  The entire real estate section is nothing more than one big promotion.  Ask yourself, when was the last time they wrote about a new condo development and said it sucked or that it was ugly uninspired and over-priced...when if fact most of them are just that?  Never, that's when.

It is a good thing that terrorist organizations and organized crime groups are not big advertisers in the Sun!
