Cornell Email Scandal: Sexy Emails Sent to Entire Business School

The Cornell Business School's tech consultant accidentally sent his entire email correspondence with his married lover to the entire business school. Both "John X" and "Lisa" are married, and have been carrying on an affair, as is evidenced in the rather cringe-worthy email exchange below. As per the laws of nature, once this hit the listserv, it was only a matter of time (measured in seconds) before the Cornell email scandal went web-wide. And it just did.

Even if I never posted this story, chances are that you'd hear about it within the next 24 hours anyway, which makes the whole thing even more mortifying for John and Lisa: they're not just dealing with their own angry spouses, but with an entire planet of people laughing about it. Because it is funny (there, I said it), but it's also an object lesson in how unforgiving the Internet can be of anything that can be repurposed into a joke or a meme.

For the love of all you hold dear, if you have an affair with someone in your workplace, do NOT use that workplace's email to communicate, and make sure that there's zero chance of accidentally sending your compromising messages to the entire planet.
