Dayton Photographer Wins Silver Addy for Editorial Photo Shoot
This past Saturday, February 21st, Picture Ohio, LLC (aka Jim Crotty Photography) won a Silver Addy at the 2009 Greater Dayton Advertising Association Hermes/Addy Awards presentation.
The Silver Addy - from the Elements of Advertising: Photography category - was presented in recognition of one of the editorial photography assignments that I completed last year for Reach Publishing and Housetrends Magazine. This was an architectural photo shoot - both interiors and exteriors - of a classic, colonial style home located in Washington Township. The published photographs were presented in the feature article, titled "The Time Keeper's Design," for the November/December 2008 Issue of Housetrends. Also named with the award are Housetrend's Publisher Evelyn Yaus and Editor Sarah Dills. Both Evelyn and Sarah are wonderful clients whom I value amongst my growing list of satisfied customers for my commercial and assignment photography business.
Out of the four years I've entered my photography in the annual recognition program of the Greater Dayton Advertising Association, three of those years resulted in Addy Awards. In 2005 my work was presented with two Bronze Addys in the categories of Advertising for the Arts and Sciences and Elements of Advertising. Two more Bronze Addys were presented to Picture Ohio, LLC (and yes, that's just little ol' me, Jim Crotty) in 2007 for my photography in the categories of Collateral Material and Elements of Advertising.
As is the case in previous years, the judges of the 2009 Hermes Awards represented an independent panel of accomplished advertising/public relations and graphic design professionals outside the Dayton, Ohio region, from market areas including Chicago and Louisville.
