The definitions of P3o with its utility
The term P3o training can be defined as functions of 3P together in the organizations. 3P – Portfolio, Program and Project together, the 3 disciplines, help the organization to ensure application of appropriate strategy for the purpose of achieving success in the business as well as the stakeholders.
To-day, most of the organizations exist in a climate of continuous change. The organizations that have learnt how to transform the effective leadership and strategic control are expected most likely to survive and prosper. The P3o with the appropriate framework enable consistent delivery of change across various structures in the organization. The P3o guidance – aligned to the Cabinet Office’s Project, Program and Portfolio management best practices, brings together in one place a set of principles, processes and techniques to facilitate their effective management through enablement, challenge and support structures.
P3o is the best Management Practice certification and is aligned to Prince 2, MSP and MoR. A P3o model provides a decision enabling and delivery support structure for all change within an organization. P3o training is a set of guidance to the definition, establishment and management of the implementation of P3o models. It is based on diverse industry experience but is not a perspective method.
The P3o training name refers to three levels of governance structures or offices – Portfolio, Program and Project. P3o is a new innovative guidance introduced by the Office of the Government Commerce (UK) which pools together all current information on support office on Project, Programs and Portfolios. There are many kind of support office ranging from Simple Project Offices through to Complex offices managing a multi-national organization’s delivery of change initiatives. The aim is to provide a single point of reference for setting up and running effective delivery support in any kind of organization in an environment aligned with best practice approaches. A P3o model can significantly increase an organization’s chances of successfully delivery of its strategy, reducing benefits loss and delivering programs and projects more effectively.
The P3o qualification can be achieved through the Accredited Training Providers by taking P3o training course in two levels –P3o Foundation and Practitioner.
The P3o Foundation level certification course ensures that the individuals acquire sufficient knowledge and understanding of the P3o guidance to interact effectively with, or act as an informed member of, an office within a P3o model. The P3o Foundation qualification is pre-requisite for P3o Practitioner qualification.
The P3o Foundation Level examination includes 50 questions per paper to be answered within 40 minutes. The exam also coves multiple choice questions and closed book facility.
The P3o Practitioner Level certification course is to confirm that the candidates have achieved sufficient knowledge and understanding about P3o guidance to design, implement, manage or work in any component office within P3o model.
The P3o Practitioner level examination includes objective testing with 7 questions per paper, 70 marks available with requirement of 30 marks to pass the examination. The duration of examination is two-and-a- quarter hour and open book facility.
The intending candidates may also avail of the benefit of online Instructor-based P3o training course for P3o exam preparation. The online course is cost effective.
