The social bookmarking site Del.icio.us is set to be shut down by Yahoo. Rumors have swirled that the recent round of Yahoo layoffs included all Delicious staffers and it now appears that the site is going the way of Geocities

According to TechCrunch, it seems that the handwriting had the been on the wall for a while. Other products affected by the Yahoo layoffs include Yahoo Buzz, MyBlogLog, Delicious, AllTheWeb.com, Yahoo Picks, and AltaVista.

The death of Delicious of particularly noteworthy as the site was considered a pioneer in social media.

With the future of del.icio.us being very uncertain, I have export my bookmarks from del.icio.us from the settings page. Once I exported them you I have imported them into ocell.us as it promises to be around for a while.
