Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer Hits the Web

A live-action trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution has hit the web, with gorgeous production values. it looks like a movie trailer, but is for a game that will be released for PC, XBox 360, and PS3 on August 23.

Human Revolution is the prequel to Deus Ex, which was released in 2000 to critical acclaim.

An earlier promo was posted in the form of a website for Sarif Industries, the fictional human-augmentation corporation at the heart of the Deus Ex story.

A Deus Ex Movie?

This is the trailer for a video game, and not a live-action film. While Deus Ex was optioned, it never went into production. (The name comes from "deus ex machina", or "god in the machine", a term from Greek theatre.) Deus Ex has a presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2011.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution covers the fallout of widespread adoption of "human augmentation", in which people get robot body parts in order to improve strength, speed, vision, and so forth. However, those who are augmented must then take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of their lives, and find that their bodies no longer belong to them.
