NP Rank:
Google Calendar, Zoho and a host of other relatively popular apps have already made the online diary and calendaring space seem crowded, and at times unneccessary. Yet, I recently came across a startup called CheckTheDiary, which is attempting to break into that very space.
Okay, so this site is not exactly like Google Calendar. However, if you log in and actually view a diary, it looks just like any other calendaring application. The difference here, lies in the information provided around the basic app.
While the obvious target market for this site seems to be trendy city folk with an active social life (or those aspiring to emulate them), the utility has much greater and wider potential for business users.
Conference planners, for example could broadcast their conferences on such a site, and allow potential attendees to add it to their diary. Similarly, training courses, business meetups and other similar groups could start tapping into such an app to increase their enrollment.
Unfortunately, though, this feature is downplayed (near invisible, in fact) on this app, like many others, leaving space in the market for still more online calendars to crop up and offer that very functionality.
Anyone think that's a worthwhile business case?

it depends on the market..
on how many people actually log on to the other calendar website applcations..
if google in some third world country doesnot provide proper bandwidth ..
those ppl may surely welcome a new competitor in the free market..

I would like to add to this market approach comment. It also depends on how many other services it starts up in the future. Like google has virtually taken over the internet, offering services ranging from processsing documents to social networkin all with one id.. now that ..would make this really interesting.

that seems really farfetched..
turning something like "check the diary" into google..
farfetched.. but not unachievable.. as google says .. "searching what others have searched before"
