It's being called a trio of crises: Housing, credit and financial.

Now 30 percent of the nation's business economists have the U.S. economy shrinking at least through June. That's a three-fold increase from January. In weeks they could start calling this the first recession since 2001.

Sounds like President Bush will be going out of the White House with us in the same strugglin economic shape we were in before 9-11.

Ben Bernanke's warning us. He's G-W's go-to-guy on fiscal policy. The Federal Reserve Board chairman may be a bright guy, but he's no Paul Volker and he's definitely no Alan Greenspan.

The bean counters at the National Association of Business Economists asked each other and 70 percent said they were more pessimistic about the economy than they were three months ago. NABE ought to know.
