Dr. Watson: Q&A with Jeopardy Computer's Creators
Dr. Watson Beat Brad Rutter & Ken Jennings: Reddit Q&A with the IBM Watson Team
Humanity crumbled in the face of machine superiority on Jeopardy, as IBM's Dr. Watson defeated champs Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. However, Dr. Watson was not built for game shows (and, no, it wasn't built for world domination, either). Watson is intended as a medical product, to help physicians produce personalized diagnoses beyond what WebMD can dream of.
Watson won $77,147 on Jeopardy, but most likely cost over $100 million to develop and build. Would you like to ask the Watson team about their project? Thanks to Reddit, you can. The Dr. Watson team is doing an IAMA on Reddit right now. So post your questions, and they'll try to get back to you. Or maybe it'll be Watson. Really, how will you know for sure?
I'd want to have a beer with Watson itself. I don't think it drinks, but probably just eats the RAM chips.
