The reports here are interesting, but sadly do not look at the real aspects, talking about chip prices and the effects of a woman in suburban USA.
What about he real impact - on long haul transport in countries like Australia where road transport is the main method of moving goods, or the fishing industries.
Even the cost of producing food, fertiliser prices are directly linked to oil prices, plus fuel for farm equipment.
It is almost time for the oil companies and the vehicle manufacturers to bring out some of the patents on alternative fuels - those they snapped up over the past 20 years to protect their businesses.
Are we at the oil peak???
The soaring cost of oil is causing growing strain to economies around the world, rich and poor.
With prices more than doubling in the past year to $135 a barrel, the impact is being felt acutely by consumers and businesses alike.
