Here is a really cool article that I wrote for American Chronicle.  It is based upon my experience as a wrongful death electrocution accident lawyer.

October 18, 2008 When we wake up in the mornings to send our loved ones off to work as they begin each workday, we generally do not let the worry even enter our minds of some type of work related accident occurring, and especially one that involves electrocution. Electrocution accidents that cause wrongful death lawsuits may happen more than you think. The fact of the matter is that there are over 700 individuals every single year who lose their lives because of some type of electrocution accident occurring on the job, and in many cases these are preventable. In fact electric shock places fourth as causing occupational fatalities.

There are a variety of different factors that can ultimately lead to a tragic electrocution wrongful death accident occurring. If you live in San Diego or the surrounding cities in California, and you are faced with the tragedy of losing a family member due to an electrocution accident occurring, it is very important that you contact electrocution wrongful death accident attorneys as soon as you possibly can.

These professionals have the skill and the expertise in being able to handle many different types of delicate situations that can arise when it comes to an electrocution wrongful death accident. There are a variety of different factors that can end up being responsible for an individual becoming electrocuted. Individuals who work in construction type jobs can accidentally strike power lines as they use various types of equipment both as they are working above and below ground, water can mistakenly come in contact with various electrical outlets, the electric circuitry of a building can end up being faulty, and a variety of other situations that can prove to be deadly. There are also a variety of different types of jobs where an electrocution wrongful death accident can occur, such as industrial plants, restaurants, indoor and outdoor construction jobs, agricultural job sites, and numerous others.

It is a very unfortunate fact, but most of the situations that can occur on a job site, which can tragically end up causing some type of electrocution wrongful death lawsuit, could have been prevented very easily. Often times all it would take is simple educational training on the various hazards that can occur on the job site, and the various ways that you can help prevent them from happening in the first place. Electrocution accidents causing wrongful death lawsuits may happen more than you think, but there are steps that can be taken to lessen these numbers.

panzerlawyer, I like this story. It's good stuff.

My husband was killed by a power line falling on him in our back yard. I am in litigation with the power company because I truly believe they need to change their methods, but they have so many excuses. My attorneys are excellent and are very compassionate towards me and my situation. However, I am so frustrated that the power company could have done so many small things to prevent this situation and did not do it, nor have they changed their policies and possibly prevent another death. The power company does not keep up the necessary maintenance, nor do they warn consumers of downed power lines in their neighborhood. They do not replace connectors or lines although they are years past their manufacturers' recommended replacment date. Finally, the safety of their consumers and the general public are not their number one priority, per their response priority list stated in their SOP. The power companies claim they are not subject to commercial litigation and are portected as a government entity, yet are governerned by a private board (much like a corporation) and commit funds to sponsoring event marketing contracts. Eevn more disturbing is seeing the "comic" reenactments of someone being electrocuted on a bilboard designed to eduacate the general public about the dangers of fallen lines. A two year old child should be safe in his back yard, as should a dog as should an adult who doesn't see the line and has it fall on his neck as he is in his back yard.

Fighting with a power company is painful and frustrating, but I would never like someone else to feel the pain and desolation that I feel. I need to get the message out and prevent this from happening, but I am hoping that a large enough legal case will get the ball rolling, then I will know what details I can or cannot divulge in my quest. This was such an amazingly easy death to prevent. I am so sad.

Is there any way I can put additional pressure on the power company to change their methods befor another person is hurt or killed besides the law suit I have in the works?

Thanks
