Facebook Fee? FB Changes Do Not Include Charging

Will You Have to Pay for Facebook? No.

The new Facebook changes are, and let's be honest here, a quagmire of nonsense. The social media giant seems to have made a concerted effort to make the news feed, which will in turn be replaced by Timeline, as unhelpful as possible, and it's even worse on mobile. The ticker (that redundant crawl on the upper right) left me scratching my head: does anyone at Facebook HQ understand the concept of UX?

Facebook Not Charging a Fee

One thing that isn't changing, though: Facebook is free to use. Not as easy to use, but free. Facebook is not charging, despite rumors you may be hearing. Facebook is not charging a fee.

Facebook Records Browsing History of Logged-Out Users

And, no, there's no dislike button. However, Facebook was kind enough to add another click-step to the poking workflow (that sounded vaguely dirty), since I guess it was too easy before. Oversharing remains core to the Facebook development culture: even once you log out, your browsing history is still recorded. Delete cookies manually.

As with all previous Facebook changes, we'll bitch about it and then, after maybe two weeks, we'll forget that there was ever a previous version.

And so the cycle continues: the cycle of crappy UI: we stick with it until something prettier and easier to use comes along. Remember, though, Mr. Zuckerberg: screen puke killed MySpace.

You nailed it. As individual as people claim to want to be, there's still a creepy aspect of looking at human behavior from far back/above... Watching humanity behave like one big organism...
