MySpace CEO Mike Jones and Facebook VP of Partnerships and Platform Marketing Dan Rose will make a joint announcement on November 18 at noon PDT via webcast.

The most likely announcement is that MySpace will be using Facebook's technology to connect users, even as the former number-one tries to get out from under Facebook's shadow. The two people making the announcement make this theory (which is not ours alone) all the more likely to be correct. The Telegraph is predicting a Facebook Connect button on MySpace, and Mashable is predicting pretty much the same thing.

MySpace's owner, News Corp., has also run out of time and patience waiting for the site to stage a recovery. During a recent call with analysts, News Corp. President and COO Chase Carey said that "MySpace's current losses are not acceptable or sustainable." Pointing out that the number of MySpace members continues to drop, Carey added that the site needs to stablize and that its performance would now be judged quarter to quarter rather than year to year.
