Facebook Porn Attack: Deluge of NSFW
Facebook Deluged with Porn, Graphic Images
Facebook has finally acknowledged the flood of pornographic and violent images that have deluged users' news feeds over the past few days.
Porn and hardcore violence are propagating the social networking site due to what is most likely a social-engineering ploy, getting users to give up control of their own accounts. In other words, your sister didn't intentionally post that image of a three-way to your wall.
Facebook should be on top of this sort of thing more quickly, since it happens fairly regularly. Users, we should know better than to click those dodgy links. It's not 2006 anymore.
The speed at which the NSFW material is spreading could suggest, however, that there are elements to the attack beyond social engineering.
Facebook's statement, which is fairly interchangeable with previous statements, is as follows:
“Protecting the people who use Facebook from spam and malicious content is a top priority for us and we are always working to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms. We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue.”

Social Engineering, in this context, as in Facebook is using it to gain more control over user accounts?
