Facebook Tests New Search Functionality

Facebook is testing new features to juice up its extremely-feeble search functionality. Now, instead of just looking up the people who didn't talk to you in high school, you will be able to search for trending topics found in your friends' updates, pictures and links. This would also extend to those who have (by design or accident) left their profiles open to public view.

Using a topical trend, she entered the term "Iran" in the search field in Facebook, which then displayed "up-to-the-minute results" from pages and friends.

This is currently getting a look-see from a tiny, tiny fraction of Facebook users, so you probably weren't invited. Neither was I.

Facebook: the more things change, the more they become Twitter.

I wonder if I'm the only person left who uses FB without any applications, groups, fan pages or extras. I just can't be bothered.
