Facebook Launches Safety Center for Safe Social Networking

Facebook has launched an all-new Safety Center which is designed to protect and shield Facebook's 400 million users from harassment, bullying and abuse.

In an official blog post, Facebook says that safety is their number one concern, and that the new Safety Center will provide answers and information for parents, teens, educators and members of the law.

We've quadrupled the safety content available, and we've created cleaner, more navigable interfaces to help you find answers to safety questions fast. This portal—which we've been testing during the past few... weeks—draws multimedia content from Facebook and from independent organizations specializing in safety and security online.

Facebook is hoping that the new Safety Center allows users to find help in a quick and organized manner due to the new user interface.

Facebook Safety

The Facebook Safety Center will have five main categories:

  • General Safety
  • Safety for Educators
  • Safety for Law Enforcement
  • Safety for Parents
  • Safety for Teens

Each category features a variety of tips and frequently asked questions, as well as answers for issues that may affect some users.

Facebook says that by no means is the Safety Center complete, and that they will continue to upgrade and add to the feature. Facebook says they will continue to have safety experts blog and help build the feature.
