The Flip Video Camera is dead. Cisco has killed it.

Mentioned in a press release, Cisco has stated that they will "close down its Flip business and support current FlipShare customers and partners with a transition plan". The news comes two years after the company purchased Pure Digital, the brainchild company behind the gadget, for $590 million.

At the time, the Flip Video was a revolutionary camera that let one easily record and upload video on the net. This feature today is found in many smart phones, making the Flip Video Camera a hard sell and a large part of why the company is shutting the door on the product.
