The GSMA today announced that the ratio of HSPA mobile broadband growth rose to nearly 75 percent compared to last year, according to data released Wireless Intelligence. Every month there is the addition of over 9 million new HSPA connections worldwide, compared to what happened a year earlier, only 5.5 million per month.
For Europe and Asia-Pacific is estimated added respectively 3 million new connections per month, and 1.3 million for North America.
The need for mobile broadband continue to increase. It is estimated that there will be an additional 27 million HSPA connections again in late 2009, with the fastest growth occurring in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Americas. Currently there are 321 HSPA networks in 120 countries around the world - of which 285 networks are in commercial use, supports more than 167.5 million connections.
This network is supported by more than 1,600 HSPA tech devices, including smartphones, netbooks and notebook PCs as well as dongles, which sends the internet connection to all users around the world.
"HSPA technology continues to grow in phenomenal blessing thousands of operators, vendors, applications and service providers that support this technology, in order to present a reliable networks and competitive," says Dan Warren, Director of Technology, the GSMA in a press release.
He said this network will also include next-generation GSM technology, the HSPA + and LTE. New technologies that will improve data access speed. Thus the operator services can be more qualified, by providing the latest multimedia-rich features for customers.
Service providers around the world now watch the data traffic remarkable increase in their networks. It is believed will continue to happen, with estimates later in the year 2014, every month, mobile devices will access more data than what happened in the year 2008. Three-quarters of this data traffic will be connected with internet access, while the remainder will be connected through audio and video streaming. This is a sign of significant changes that Mobile Broadband will be more widely used in the coming years.
Evolution to HSPA + and LTE
The need for products, services and applications Mobile Broadband sharp rise pushed the operator continued to update its network infrastructure and utilize the latest technologies. Globally, there are currently 54 HSPA + network, with 28 of them have been used commercially. Meanwhile, 50 operators around the world has turned and said it plans to test LTE.
Hopefully, the first LTE network will be launched next year. LTE is widely regarded as Mobile Broadband technology de facto to be adopted by the majority of operators around the world.
Service providers use a variety of strategies to migrate from the HSPA network to HSPA + and / or LTE. Several factors helped determine the direction of the selected technology, including earlier age of technology, the flexibility of the existing equipment, ROI planning, spectrum is available and the applicable tariff strategy.
