EA today announced a strong opening to its FIFA 09 season. More than 1.2 million copies of the critically-acclaimed game were sold through in its first week on shelves at European retail, making it the fastest start in the history of the award-winning franchise.

FIFA 09 launches in North America and Asia on October 14, 2008. It will be available on Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ in North America on October 28, 2008.
